Advantages of Biological Nitrogen Fixation in Plant Health

Among these organisms, Azotobacter spp. convert free atmospheric nitrogen into organic nitrogen compounds and nitrates through the process of nitrogen fixation. Microorganisms belonging to the Azotobacter spp. group live freely in the soil and, unlike symbiotic nitrogen-fixing bacteria, do not require an association with any plant. They are able to fix gaseous nitrogen from the atmosphere within their cells and transform it into a form that can be utilized as a nutrient.

As a result, plants can obtain essential nitrogen through natural biological processes rather than relying solely on synthetically produced nitrogen fertilizers. In addition, Azotobacter species produce various metabolites, vitamins, and plant growth-regulating substances that help protect plants against many diseases while promoting significant improvements in crop yield and quality.

Azotobacter Mode of Action

Vitormone Plus Composition

Vitormone Plus contains Azotobacter spp. microorganisms in a dormant cyst form, with a concentration of 1 × 10⁸ CFU/g. After application, these microorganisms begin to germinate within approximately 6 hours, transforming from the cyst form into active bacterial cells. Within 3–4 days, the bacterial cells spread across the entire leaf surface and, utilizing the nutrient-rich environment of the leaf, become fully active.

These bacteria convert carbon (C) released through plant respiration and free atmospheric nitrogen (N) into plant-available nitrogen forms, enabling the plant to receive natural foliar nutrition. In addition, the bacteria produce a range of beneficial compounds essential for plant growth and development, including:

  • Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)
  • Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)
  • Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)
  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin C
  • Folic Acid
  • Biotin
  • Nicotinic Acid
  • Pantothenic Acid
  • Gibberellic Acid
  • Cytokinins
  • Auxins
  • Indole-3-Acetic Acid (IAA)

Furthermore, they secrete natural antifungal metabolites that help protect plants from diseases during their growth cycle, contributing to balanced plant growth and development.

Vitormone Plus is an organic-certified microbial fertilizer containing natural microorganisms that utilize atmospheric nitrogen and carbon derived from carbon dioxide (CO₂) released through leaf stomata during respiration as nutrient sources, thereby supporting plant nutrition through natural biological processes.

Benefits of Vitormone Plus

  • Fixes atmospheric nitrogen onto leaf surfaces, providing an economical and natural fertilization method.
  • Stimulates the plant's natural enzymes, vitamins, and growth-regulating substances.
  • Reduces flower and fruit drop caused by hormonal imbalances, leading to improved yield and quality.
  • Enhances fruit sugar content, improving flavor and overall fruit quality.
  • Positively influences post-harvest storage life and shelf stability.
  • Completely natural and environmentally friendly; safe for humans, animals, and plants.
  • Suitable for use in organic farming systems.
  • Does not disrupt ecological balance and leaves no harmful residues.

    Vitormone Plus Application Rates

For all plant groups, Vitormone Plus is generally recommended to be applied during three key growth stages:

    1. Early vegetative growth stage
    2. Flowering stage
    3. Fruit set and fruit development stages

    Foliar Application Rates:

    • High-volume spraying: 100 mL per 100 L of water.
    • Field spraying: 50–100 mL per decare (da), applied as a foliar spray.

    Application Guidelines and Precautions

For optimum performance, the following recommendations should be observed:

    • Shake the container thoroughly before opening and use.
    • Do not apply using hot ULV (thermal fogging) equipment.
    • Applications should preferably be made in the late afternoon or after sunset.
    • If foliar chemical fungicides are required, especially copper-based products, they should be applied 7–10 days after the Vitormone Plus application.
    • Using a quality non-ionic spreader-sticker can improve product effectiveness.
    • Performance can be further enhanced when combined with amino acids, plant growth regulators, or foliar fertilizers rich in organic matter.

Following these recommendations helps maximize the activity of the beneficial microorganisms and supports improved plant growth, flowering, fruit set, and overall crop performance.
